The First of the Newly Designed Litter Bin Stickers appear at the Leats!

We have today fixed the new stickers to the litter bins at the Redruth Brewery Leats. The stickers have kindly been designed and supplied to us free of charge by Contract Signs of Redruth. The stickers incorporate the logo, so professionally designed by Amber Calley of Redruth School. Jane Hooper, of Hooper Graphics has kindly digitally enhanced Amber’s original drawing and we sincerely hope Amber will be pleased with the final result. The strap line “Bin it don’t Sling it” was chosen by Members of Redruth Youth Centre. We are extremely pleased with the finished product and hope very much that people will take notice of them and make an extra effort to ensure any rubbish is disposed of responsibly. We would wish to extend our thanks to Amber and the young people at the Youth Centre for their recent efforts.  We have ordered a further 20 litter bin stickers and it is our intention to fix them to more bins in Redruth. We would very much welcome your comments.

  1. I am totally for this sort of community youth centred environmental action a nd have myself been regularly clearing the lane between Highfields School and Strawberry lane behind the rugby field of chrisp packets, drink bottles, cans, pasty wrappers and sweet wrappers dropped regularly, despite the presence of an orange bin at the Strawberry lane end. I recycle what I can and am astonished by how many people in the town will happily walk over a crushed pizza container or a whole packet of discarded fish and chips. Most of this litter is fast food related and due to basic apathy and lack of thought. Maybe the take aways could be doing their bit, especially those on Green Lane and also there need to be more bins and even more awareness raising at a local community level so that people become responsible for the health and hygiene and aesthetic of their own back yard. What happened to ‘Keep Britain Tidy..’ I also am shocked by the litter flung out of car windows on the Old Portreath Road up to the pub ….it is basically again bottles and cans….plese keep me posted of any way I can help…
