We are getting increasingly concerned about the amount of dog poo which we are increasingly seeing in our streets and open spaces. Unfortunately, there is a small minority of irresponsible dog owners who still refuse to pick up after their dogs. Dogs mess is not only unpleasant and smelly but much more seriously it does pose a significant health hazard. Dogs poo can contain a dangerous parasitic roundworm known as Toxacara Canis which can infect and cause blindness in childen. This risk is totally eradicated if all dog owners act in a responsible manner and pick up their dog’s poo and dispose of it responsibly. It is also extremely important for dogs to be wormed regularly to kill the worms before they can endanger children. It is also wise not to exercise dogs in dedicated children’s play area. Is this really too much to ask to protect the health and wellbeing of our children? So please pick up after your dog.
